And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown. (I Corinthians 9:25)
Moses was restrained from entering the promise land, though he saw it,because he allowed his anger to get the best of him,he was instructed by God to speak to the rock but he was provoked by the murmurings of the people and he hit the rock over and over again, though water came out but God is as concerned about the result as he is concerned about the process,it must be done his way.
Sometimes ambitious people will go any length to achieve their aims even if it means hurting others, but the how is as important as the result.
God is concerned about the product and the process.
The results of Moses lack of control cost him his destiny, instead of him God chose Joshua to take the people into the promise land.
Esau gave away his birthright for a pot of porridge,he was so hungry, his problem was not that he was hungry, hunger is natural but that he had no value for his birthright, and he lacked restraint, the result was that he lost the blessing. With tears he cried, but he never got it back.
Stop thinking you have too many chances or opportunities, your last failure could just have been your last chance.
The king David because of lack of control he killed a man and slept with his wife, after he had seen her nakedness and brought causes on himself and his family.
Imagine if Joseph when he was tempted by Portiphars wife gave in and had sex with her he would have destroyed his purpose and missed the mark, but he kept himself because he was conscious of the presence of God and he knew the results of his actions would be the loss of his purpose.
We must be careful of our choices in the midst of pressure,we must be temperate in all things,so that we won’t miss out of Gods best for us.
There is no excuses, keep your focus on the prize, keep your body under, bring discipline to yourself, put restraints where you ought to and live a life that pleases God.
And Esau said, “Is he not rightly named Jacob? For he has supplanted me these two times. He took away my birthright, and now look, he has taken away my blessing!” And he said, “Have you not reserved a blessing for me?” (Genesis 27:36 NKJV)
Sometimes in life all you got is just one chance,to either get it right or miss it forever.we live our lives giving excuses “asking why you are where you are, giving the impression that your dilemma is not your fault and you blame everyone else but yourself.”
The men are blaming the women, the women are blaming the men, fathers blaming their wife and kids and it’s all a blame game.
Esau blamed Jacob for his loss, when he willingly gave his birthright for a plate of soup.
Stop living life thinking there is always an opportunity to make it right,be careful don’t mess that opportunity and expect there will be another chance, there is just one chance at life, give it all you got.
Esau cried out “father do you not have any blessing reserved for me”
The left over is not your portion, greatness, the top is where God has meant for you to be at,stop the blame game and start taking responsibility for your flaws.
Live life like it’s all you got, treat that job like its all you ever going to get, treat your family like they are your last chance to make a family, live today like there is no tomorrow.
Grace is not an excuse to do wrong, expecting there is another chance, stop messing your life up with wrong choices and crying why am I here?
Take responsibility,do the right, there is no left over blessing!

Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord: (Hebrews 12:14 NKJV)
The message of holiness has left the pulpit and prosperity teaching has taken over our pulpits.
Sometimes we confuse Righteousness with Holiness, let me give a simple definition,to help your understanding.
Righteousness is having a right standing with God and scriptures helps us to understand our place through the blood of Jesus, that we have been justified by faith and made the righteousness of God through Christ Jesus.
So Righteousness is received by faith,we don’t work to attain righteousness,we receive righteousness by faith in Christ Jesus.
But Holiness is a way of life, living the life and character of God in this world.
Righteousness sets the stage for us to live holy.
“Without Holiness no man shall see Go”
When you walk in Holiness you set yourself in a level of consecration that permits certain encounters the ordinary Christian would not experience.
The Bible speaks of Enoch that he walked with God and he was raptured, because he walked with God,he lived a life that was pleasing to God,so Holiness brings you to the extraordinary.
God cannot stand sin, though he loves the sinner,he demands a life of holiness,a life that is conscious of the presence of God.

And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. (Romans 12:1 NLT)
When I read this scripture I can actually feel the writers heart and cry.”I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of what he has done for you”.
I don’t think it’s too much to ask, considering what The Lord did for us sending his son Jesus to die for our sakes, dying in our place.
We were condemned and ready to be killed because of our sins and we deserved it but Jesus took our place.
All God is asking is not your money or your wealth,he is asking for your life, the life that his son Jesus died to save.
The reason we are here today, alive and living,is because of his sacrifice, sacrifice of blood prompted by love.
The best worship you can offer to God is not your money or a song of praise but a sacrifice of your life,a living and holy sacrifice that will be acceptable by God.
Worship goes beyond singing but giving of your life to God to be used for his glory.
Like the writer of Romans ” I beseech you also my brothers and sisters, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable by God “
Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. (Romans 12:2 NLT)
This is a very vital but dicey issue, this is an issue that confuses people so much and I have seen so many people getting it wrong.
The will of God simply put is Gods plan and purpose for your life, its Gods agenda for mankind.
Man’s struggle is to discover and maximize that will, without a knowledge of that will man would be existing and not Living, because I believe your real life begins when you discover the will of God for your life.
Here in this world before a man dies he should have a written will which should clearly state his thoughts and how his family should run after he his gone.
So God has a will for us his children and until you discover that will, you will not be directed on your purpose in this life.
Firstly you need to realize that the will of God is not found in the world but in the word.
Giving yourself to the study of Gods word, will cause a transformation in your mindset that will change the way you think, the word of God prepares your mindset to comprehend what is the will of God for you.
No man has the script of his will but God alone,so to find your purpose you have to give yourself to his word.
When you think like the world and allow the system of the world to rule, you will never discover Gods will for your life.
Stop asking others to tell you his will for your life, stop running from one church to the other, start digging into his word,so you can discover his good, acceptable and perfect will for your life!
One of the quality of Gods grace is that it humbles you,it changes your perception of who you are.
Humility is not defined by your outward appearance, you may look beggarly and poor, that does not mean you are humble, you may talk slow and low but it still does not mean you are humble, you may even walk more slow than the tortoise it still doesn’t mean you are humble.
Humility is an internal quality that certainly shows off in your attitude especially in your relationship with others.
What is the state of your heart;how do you see yourself and what is your perception of others as compared to you?
In this text Paul was trying to tell us to be humble.
The grace of God is not a right but a privilege, its favor that we didn’t deserve .
Grace is a gift that came through the death of Christ ,he took all our Sins upon himself,he took our place, when we should have been killed he took our place.
So stop feeling you are too much, stop feeling you are more righteous and more holy than others, stop looking down on other s.
You are what you are today because of the finished work of Christ, all the credit should go to God who gave his only begotten son, neglected him on that cross, for our sakes.
“Because of the privilege and authority God has given me, I give each of you this warning: Don’t think you are better than you really are. Be honest in your evaluation of yourselves, measuring yourselves by the faith God has given us. (Romans 12:3 NLT)”
A similar warning was also given in 1corinthians 10:12 “wherefore let him that thinkers he standeth take heed lest he falls”
It’s ok to think highly of yourself, but think more highly than you really are is crossing the line and a fall is on the way.
Be honest in the evaluation of yourself,be real, stop creating a picture of what you are not to others that is living a lie.
When we do this we abuse the grace of God and soon we will fall, let’s be humble in the way we think about ourselves, lets be faith builders and encourage those who are weak, instead of running them down.
“Real leaders don’t only show the way, they also lead the way” tajhmahal
The message on Christian character is seriously lacking in the church today,Pastors now teach the people what they want to hear rather than what God wants them to hear.
Pastoring today is now like keeping a political office!
Teaching is just a part of leadership but leading is actually a lifestyle, you cannot give what you don’t have, you reflect a leadership style that you really are.
Paul writing to Titus clearly on how he should instruct and lead the flocks, but made it clear that he had to instruct them by showing them through the way he lives.
“But mostly, show them all this by doing it yourself, incorruptible in your teaching, your words solid and sane. Then anyone who is dead set against us, when he finds nothing weird or misguided, might eventually come around. (Titus 2:7, 8 MSG)”
They say “practice what you preach” but I say “preach what you practice”
Teaching by practice is more pure and impactful, our words lack weight because we have not actually experienced what we teach about !
Power is released to the hearer when the preacher teaches what he is practicing or has practiced.
You are a liar when you teach what you are not practicing, you will be judged by the words of your mouth.
Our churches are the way they are today, because we preach what we don’t practice, leadership should be by example and not by words,”word is cheap”
