Restrain yourself

And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown. (I Corinthians 9:25)

Moses was restrained from entering the promise land, though he saw it,because he allowed his anger to get the best of him,he was instructed by God to speak to the rock but he was provoked by the murmurings of the people and he hit the rock over and over again, though water came out but God is as concerned about the result as he is concerned about the process,it must be done his way.
Sometimes ambitious people will go any length to achieve their aims even if it means hurting others, but the how is as important as the result.
God is concerned about the product and the process.
The results of Moses lack of control cost him his destiny, instead of him God chose Joshua to take the people into the promise land.
Esau gave away his birthright for a pot of porridge,he was so hungry, his problem was not that he was hungry, hunger is natural but that he had no value for his birthright, and he lacked restraint, the result was that he lost the blessing. With tears he cried, but he never got it back.
Stop thinking you have too many chances or opportunities, your last failure could just have been your last chance.
The king David because of lack of control he killed a man and slept with his wife, after he had seen her nakedness and brought causes on himself and his family.
Imagine if Joseph when he was tempted by Portiphars wife gave in and had sex with her he would have destroyed his purpose and missed the mark, but he kept himself because he was conscious of the presence of God and he knew the results of his actions would be the loss of his purpose.
We must be careful of our choices in the midst of pressure,we must be temperate in all things,so that we won’t miss out of Gods best for us.
There is no excuses, keep your focus on the prize, keep your body under, bring discipline to yourself, put restraints where you ought to and live a life that pleases God.
